Hi:

I want to get an Ipod 4 or 5 gen. Something with internet connectivity. If I do that, and use the Itunes feature onscreen, can I then sync the songs from my Ipod to my computer? My boyfriend thinks that once you use an Ipod to download from Itunes, you can't transfer that music onto a computer. Is this true? It would seem that you should be able to put songs from an Ipod 4 or 5 onto a computer.

My boyfriend says this is because Apple doesn't like you sharing your music. If I do get a newer Ipod, I would like to transfer my music onto my laptop.

I transfer my music from my IPod to my laptop and my IPhone all the time. Tell you're boyfriend he's full of it.

Yes, when you sync your iPod and computer, the music will transfer. However, I think it will only still be in iTunes format, not something like MP3. If I'm not mistaken, iTunes music does have DRM attached to it. But yes, you can put it on your computer, if that's all you're wanting to do with it.

Can you transfer music from a CD to iTunes on your computer and sync it to your iPhone?

Yes, to the last poster. Rip it and add it to your iTunes library.
To the first poster if you wish to move the music other places then iTunes it is best to buy it on the computer first, and with the latest version of iTunes or iCloud anything you buy will automaticly Sync to your other devices.
What he was probably talking about is the music from an I device to a PC only stays in iTunes, and can not be use anyplace else. The other way around it can.

You can convert the M4A format which is apple media file to mp3. Itune lets you do that quite easily.

I just copied it out of ITunes and play it in WinAmp. Nothing to it.

I can't seem to copy any music I didn't buy on the computer from iTunes to my music folder to say put on my other MP3 players. I'll have to revisit that. If I buy the music on the computer I can copy it and do anything I like with it easy, no sweat.
I reasently got a new computer and all the music I had gotten on my phone dropped in to iTunes beautifully, but moving it from iTunes in to my music folder converted or whatever I've not been able to do. I only had 5 tracks gotten that way, so it was no problem. All my other music no matter where I got it was no problem.
I did the converting and all, but it didn't come. I am running windows 8, but that shouldn't be the issue either. I don't have WinAmmp, but Media player doesn't do it.

Thanks, my boyfriend has older Ipods, so maybe in the past, syncing was an issue. I'm happy to know that if I use my Ipod to buy a song, I can sync it into my Itunes library. Thanks for the hints. Now, I just gotta start saving for that Ipod.

Yes, and the posters that say you can copy the music are right. My problem was I needed to click it twice to get it on my clip board. After that I can put it anyplace I wanted. So I stand corrected.
Nice. I use to work, but had stopped when I switched computers, but now it seems to not matter at all.

I'll have to add something, and ask a question.
As I said I stand corrected about music that was purchased from my other computer can and has been easy to copy and put anyplace I wanton my new computer.
However, if the track says it is an "iCloud download", I can't seem to copy it at all
What do the posters say that have posted you can move your tracks from the iPad or iPod to your computer think about this issue, and have you experienced it?
I only have about 5 tracks as I say I can't move, but can play, put in a playlist, and anything I like, I just can't use them in other places except iTunes. I still computer or i

As for ripping CD's ITunes is the only way I do it nowadays. I used to do it using Windows Media Player, ten add the resultant folder to the ITunes library. But I found that this led to some undesirable quirks. If ITunes didn't list it as an unknown album or artist, WIndows Media Player would sometimes get the artist, album or song names wrong. Or if that didn't happen it would omit a track. So I started ripping all my CD's via ITunes and that problem went away.

I use CDex for ripping. Though not sure if that works under Windows vista 7 or 8.

For Reel, seems to me that you having some sincing issue. You can always nominate the player of your choice. I do that all the time with my itune library. Ones you got to My Document; my music; itunes; itune media, your itune music library is there. Just select the foulder you want, and select the song you one (provided is anything other than M4a) and play it with the player of your choice.
I do that all the time, playing using winmamp.

As far as you can't copy your songs from IDevices to your computer, itseemsto me is more do with your sincing process than the songs itself.

Naw. It was that these 5 tracks were in the cloud. It just required authorizing the computer was all.
Now they work as expected. I can download, play, move them, or whatever. They weren't in my iTunes folder at all, so I could play them only. Now they are and I don't have to even do anything but play them anyplace I like.
I really appreciate you thinking about my issue and giving me a suggestion. Thank you.

Same as what i said before, something got caught up with your sincing process.
